Derby’s Community Steel Band

The DWICA Steel Pans is a community-based group set up to bring steel band music to the city of Derby and further afield. We specialise in supporting carnivals, festivals, schools, and family celebrations but will also play for private and corporate functions where suitable.

We can perform with anything between 2 and 8 players and will select the right size ensemble to match the occasion. We are led by Lionel McCalman former leader of Nostalgia Steelband and renowned as a “Godfather” of steel band music in the UK. We play for up to 2 hours in 20-30 minute sets but can adjust to suit the mood and requirements of the day.

The DWICA Steel Pans play a mixture of Reggae, Soca, and popular songs and will always strike the right note to bring the energy and joy of steel band music to your event.
